KATE SUGARS

27 JUNE – 3 JULY

Kate’s journey began like so many good business…as a hobby in her parent’s garage.

While studying graphic design and working at a local photographic studio, a friend asked her to design her wedding invitations. After completing the project, Kate noticed that there was a gap in the market for quality invitations & stationery. This combined her love for celebrations and styling with what she was formally studying. To her, it made so much sense to start a small business from this.

After slowly building up a client base, beginning with her friends and growing from there, Kate went on to make a showroom for clients to view my products.

Her business was growing and Kate began to dream bigger, with the goal to move away from her steady job and change her creative hobby into a full time venture.

Kate was accepted into the South Australia Young Entrepreneur Scheme (SAYES), and it was one of the best decisions she could have made. Kate gained enough knowledge and support to leave her full time job, making her dream of being her own boss a reality.

In March, Kate also started another business with her mother, designing homewares, called That Dapper Home, to sell art prints, cards, laser cut wares, merino wool throws and scarves.
