NUTRITION PROFILE – SPICY BEAN BOWL

What if there was a food that supported your heart, helped with weight management and reduced the risk of chronic illnesses such as Type 2 Diabetes?

This magical food is in fact… beans!

Beans are rich in protein, antioxidants, B vitamins, iron, fibre and Zinc.

Beans come in all shapes and sizes (just like us!) and have a long list of health benefits. The best part is they are affordable and versatile!

Beans are particular good for our gut health and the bacteria that live there. The good bacteria that lives in our gastrointestinal tract helps to regulate our immune system, support healthy serotonin levels and absorb nutrients. So, it’s pretty important to keep these little guys happy!

Probiotics (capsules that contain good bacteria) and their health benefits have been in the spotlight recently. But just like us, probiotics need food to grow and function.

Beans contain fibre, between 10-15 grams per cup. This fibre helps to feed and nourish our little gut bacteria, to make sure they are doing their job.

Beans are also a great source of B vitamins and Zinc, which help to support healthy brain function, regulate hormones and healthy tissue production. They are also a great source of iron, especially for vegetarians and Vegans.

Adding beans into your diet 3 – 4 times a week is a great way to ensure you are getting adequate nutrition for everyday life. Our spicy bean bowl provides the perfect balance of nutrients to get you through your day. Our beans, alongside the Clare Valley free range eggs provide protein and iron, whilst our avocado provides healthy monounsaturated fats. This is a great meal for your heart, tummy and brain!
