OUR MINI-INTERVIEW WITH HAYLEY LAWSON

B+M: SO HAYLEY, YOU HAVE RECENTLY DONE A COLLAB WITH LOCAL BREWERY LITTLE BANG BREWING, WHAT ‘BEER PROFILES’ ARE FEATURED IN THIS LIMITED EDITION OF SOAPS?

.

HAYLEY: Little Bang originally approached me to create a soap using their Beard Fiction American Pale ale [*pictured]. I immediately knew it would be a great beer for a Hair, Face, Body (and beard!) soap. The American Pale Ale has some lovely fruity notes so I paired it with some citrus essential oils for a really fresh soap that you will want to use all over!

I then had some fun coming up with three other bars after getting inspiration from Little Bang Brewing’s amazing range of beer. The Road Tripper Double West Coast IPA is very hoppy making it perfect for a soap high in Hemp Seed oil and herby essential oils.

I was most excited to come up with something for the May Contain Traces of Panther Chocolate Porter. Rich and dark, I added activated charcoal for its skin detoxing benefits and jet black colour!

Lastly was the Dark Arts Chocolate Stout. The rich chocolate colour of the beer was the perfect opportunity to add some raw cacao powder and exfoliating coffee grounds (sourced from Brick+Mortar!).

.

B+M: THERE’S A LOT MORE THAN NOVELTY VALUE IN BEER BASED SOAP, WHAT ARE THE MAIN BENEFITS IT DELIVERS?

.

HAYLEY: Beer is a wonderful ingredient in soap! Not only does it help to produce a beautiful bubbly lather, the natural ingredients like hops and yeast help to soften skin and also fight skin imperfections like acne and dandruff.

.

B+M: COLLABORATING WITH OTHER LOCAL BUSINESSES IS FUN, AND CAN BRING A NEW ENERGY TO YOUR IDEAS PROCESS. WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR NEXT COLLABORATION TO BE?

.

HAYLEY: I would love to collab with a local artist. I think we could come up with some pretty cool gift wrap style soaps for Christmas or Mothers day! That would be super fun.

.

B+M: AND FINALLY, WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT FATHERS’ DAY?

.

HAYLEY: My favourite thing about Fathers Day is spending time with family and teaching my daughter that its a special day for dads and grandads! My least favourite is finding a suitable gift as men can be super hard to buy for! So its lovely to see my Beer Bar Soaps sitting along side some pretty special locally made gear at Brick + Mortar that are perfect for Father’s Day.
